Nabarangpur: After the outbreak of diarrhoea in Rayagada and Koraput districts, disease has now spread to Nabarangpur district.
At least one person has died and 16 others have been affected following diarrhoea outbreak at Khadiaguda village under Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district over the last four days. A medical team is camping in the village.
“Yesterday morning we were informed by the sarpanch and local people that 4-5 persons are suffering from diarrhoea. We came here with a team and have set up a medical camp. We have posted a doctor who has been here since yesterday. We found that 16 persons were affected with diarrhoea. Two of them were serious with dehydration. We referred one of them to Tentulikhunti and another to Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital,” informed Dr Bikash Barik, Medical Officer Nandahandi Community Health Centre (CHC).
The Medical Officer said that the situation is being monitored and most of the patients are recovering.
“Barring one or two who are vomiting overall health condition of others okay,” said Dr Barik.
Dr Barik said that disinfection around tube wells and other places has been done with bleaching powder and rectal swabs of the affected persons and contacts have been collected and have been sent for testing.
Water samples have been also sent for testing, Dr Barik added.
“One has died of diarrhoea his sample has been also sent for testing. And after the test result is available the cause of the death can be confirmed,” Dr Barik informed.
