Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to establish district science centres in all districts and is planning to establish one planetarium each in six districts, informed Science & Technology Department Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Friday.
In a written reply to the query of BJP MLA Ganeshram Singkhuntia, the Minister stated that according to the proposal of district officials, there is a plan to establish district science centres in 10 districts namely Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Bhadrak, Puri, Balangir, Sundargarh, and Jagatsinghpur in the first phase.
In the second phase, priority will be given to those districts where suitable land has been identified and the land lease taken over by the Science & Technology Department for setting up district science centres.
Applications have been submitted to the Tehsildars of the identified areas in the districts of Malkangiri, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Angul and Gajapati for the transfer of land documents.
The districts where the State government is planning to establish one planetarium each are Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balangir, Sundargarh and Rayagada.
