Koraput: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested the Managing Director of Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS), Almonda in Bandhugaon block of Koraput district R Rama Krishna for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a paddy farmer (complainant) in lieu of paddy procured in last season, threatening to not register him for paddy sale in the coming season, otherwise.
Based on a complaint by the paddy farmer, Vigilance officials laid a trap today in which accused Rama Krishna was caught in his office chamber while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the paddy farmer.
Vigilance officials recovered the entire bribe money from Rama Krishna’s possession and seized it in presence of witnesses.
Both hands wash of Rama Krishna gave positive chemical reaction, confirming his acceptance and handling of bribe money.
Following the trap, sleuths of the anti-graft agency conducted simultaneous searches on the residential house and office room of Rama Krishna at Almonda.
Vigilance has registered a case against Rama Krishna under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018 and further investigation is underway.
