Berhampur: In a tragic incident, two minor girls died after accidentally falling into the septic tank at their maternal grandparents’ home at Takarada village in Sorada block under Badagada police limits in Ganjam district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Dibya Sethi of Siddhapur village and Jasmati Sethi of Kaliaguda village. While Dibya was 6 years old, Jasmati was 5 years old.
According to reports, both Jasmati and Dibya had come to their maternal grandparents’ houses.
While they were playing over the septic tank, the slab atop the tank covering it caved in and as a result of it, they fell inside the tank.
Their grandparents while searching for them, found that the concrete slab which covered the septic tank had caved in and Jasmati and Dibya had fallen inside the tank.
After rescuing them, Jasmati and Dibya were rushed to the Government Hospital at Sorada.
However, they were declared dead by the attending doctors. Badagada police have seized their bodies and sent them for autopsy.
