Rayagada: A 12-member team of the Crime Branch reached Rayagada on Friday to probe the death of two Russian tourists – Vladimir Bydanov and his co-traveller Pavel Antov (65), a Russian deputy (lawmaker) of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region and multi-millionaire businessman.
The team led by DSP Saroj Kant Mahanto first reached the Rayagada Town Police Station and questioned the Inspector-In-Charge and SDPO.
Later, the team examined rooms 203 and 305 of Hotel Sai International, where the tourists were staying, the spot where Pavel fell and died, and questioned the hotel staff. The team is trying to ascertain the exact sequence of events that took place.
It is pertinent to mention that Bydanov had been found unconscious in his hotel room on December 22. He was later declared dead by doctors at the district headquarters hospital. His roommate Antov died after allegedly falling from the hotel’s third-floor terrace on December 24.
