Bhubaneswar: The State government today requested the Orissa High Court to monitor the Crime Branch investigation into Health Minister Naba Kisore Das’ murder.
The Home Department in a letter to the Registrar of Orissa High Court has requested to monitor the Crime Branch probe into Das’ murder by a sitting or retired judge of the High Court or by a District judge.
The letter has pointed out that it is a sensitive case since a police officer is involved. Therefore, highest level of transparency is required, the letter added.
The Odisha government has therefore sought monitoring of the case by the High Court.
On the other hand, the Crime Branch probe in the matter is underway.
The accused Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Gopal Krishna Das has been arrested by the police and he has been forwarded to court.
Health Minister Naba Kisore Das was shot at from point blank range by the ASI while he was alighting from his car at Gandhi Chowk in Brajrajnagar to attend a programme on Sunday afternoon.
