Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Satyanarayan Kaudi, Revenue Inspector (RI) of Gochhara under Kuchinda block of Sambalpur district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person to submit enquiry report in his favour for issuance of RoR(Patta) in a mutation case.
Based on a complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap today in which accused Kaudi was caught demanding and taking the bribe inside his office room at Gochhara, said an official press release.
The entire bribe money was recovered from Kaudi’s the possession and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Kaudi gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him, the release added.
Following the trap, Vigilance officials have launched simultaneous searches on the rented residential house of Kaudi at Mahuldihi under Kuchinda police limits, his house at native village Jamankira in Sambalpur district and his office room at Gochhara, the release said.
Vigilance have registered a case against Kaudi under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018.
While accused Kaudi has been forwarded to court following his arrest, further investigation in the matter is underway, the release added.
