Bhubaneswar: The salaries of employees at the Mahanga Block in Cuttack district have been withheld for the month of July due to their unauthorised absence from work.

Despite the District Collector’s instruction to all block-level staff to remain present at their respective offices due to the heavy rain forecast, the employees failed to report to work, prompting the District Magistrate to take disciplinary action.

According to reports, the District Magistrate had previously declared an emergency due to a heavy downpour prediction and cancelled the leave of employees. The employees have been asked to remain present. However, the employees still did not report to work, citing the fourth Saturday as a reason. This led to a complaint being filed with the District Magistrate, who then took action against the employees. As a result, the salaries of the employees have been withheld for July.
