Bhubaneswar: Amidst the mirth and gaiety of the Holi festival, a youth allegedly physically abused a hotel management student in the capital city here on Wednesday.
As per reports, the girl was waiting for her friend along the road in Maitri Vihar on Tuesday evening. At that time, the accused approached her and initiated a conversation. He offered her a lift and the girl agreed. However, instead of taking the girl to her destination, the youth took the girl to an isolated place and allegedly physically abused her.
Trying to protect her modesty, the girl shouted for help and, hearing her pleas, locals rushed to the spot to save her.
The accused has been identified as Satya Narayan Sahu. Mayur Vihar police in the capital city have arrested the accused, who is being interrogated.
Police are also recording the statement of the victim for further investigation.
