Bhubaneswar: On behalf of Special Olympic Bharat, the National Championship, Roller Skating and Cycling were held at Gurgram in Haryana.
The event was held between March 29 and 31. Athletes from Odisha, Debasis won a Gold medal in Cycling (2 km time-trial) Race, and Bronze Medal in Cycling (5 km time-trial) Race.
Similarly, Sidharth won two Bronze medals in Cycling (10 km) and (5 km) Road Race. On the other hand, Sipra won two Silver medals in 100 mts Skating and 300 mts Skating events.
Another promising youngster, Dadhichi got two Silver medals in 1000 mts and 500 mts Skating events, while Priya Ranjan performed very well in 500 mts and 300 mts Skating events, securing the 5th position.
Special Olympic Bharat – Odisha chapter’s State Coordinator, Arpita Mohapatra and Area Director Prakash Rath congratulated all athletes and coaches for their shining performance at the event. Coaches – Gita Panda and Biren Jena, accompanied the athletes to Gurugram for the event.
Bharati Rath Memorial Academy Of Special human Abilities (BRM-ASHA) sponsored the travel of the team from Odisha for their kits and travel to Gurugram for the national event.
