Rourkela: Brahmani Tarang police in Steel City Rourkela have arrested a youth who has allegedly looted mobile phones from several people by impersonating himself as a policeman.
The accused has been identified as Jagannath Bhagat, a native of the Bonai area in Sundargarh district.
Police have seized 33 stolen mobile phones from his possession.
“We had received a complaint that the accused by impersonating himself as a policeman had distracted the complainant and snatched his mobile phone. We have arrested the accused,” informed Santa Nutan Samad, SDPO, Rourkela.
Samad told that the police have recovered 33 mobile phones from the accused’s possession.
“During the investigation, we came to know that by posing as a policeman he conned several people to part with their mobile phones in different police limits of Rourkela. We are verifying the mobile phones,” the SDPO said.
