Koraput: A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a young woman on the false pretext of marriage.
The accused has been identified as Israel Nayak and was arrested from Khatiguda village in Nabarangpur district.
According to reports, the victim filed a complaint at the Jeypore Mahila Police Station, accusing Nayak of raping her after establishing a romantic relationship and deceiving her since 2022 by promising marriage.
Based on the complaint, the police registered case number 74/25 and arrested the accused today. Nayak was produced before the court at 7.30 pm.
The police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
