Bhubaneswar: A poacher allegedly shot a Forest Guard dead in Simlipal Forest Range in Mayurbhanj district today evening. The deceased has been identified as Bimal Kumar Jena, who was a Forest Guard at Naa-ana South Range.
According to reports, Jena had seized a firearm from the aforementioned poacher because of which the latter nursed a grudge against him. Today, finding him alone, the poacher fired at Jena from a close range, which led to his death.
Local police, forest officials have rushed to the spot and started an investigation.
