Bhubaneswar: Even as the heat wave conditions continued to intensify in Odisha, 40 locations in the state recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C or above on Sunday.
Bolangir and Bargarh were the hottest places in the state with 44.5°C, while Jharsuguda and Sonepur were close third and fourth with 44.4°C and 44.3°C respectively.
The maximum temperature recorded in Bhubaneswar on Sunday was 42.6°C.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow heat wave warnings for several districts in Odisha for the next three days. According to the weather office, the maximum temperature will be over 3°C to 6°C above the normal temperature bringing discomfort to people.
The IMD has advised people not to venture out of their homes between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm unless unavoidable. In addition, people have been advised to take precautionary measures to avoid heatstroke.
