Bhubaneswar: Acting on allegations of disproportionate assets (DA) amassed by Nabarangpur Additional Sub-Collector Prasanta Kumar Rout, Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday undertook simultaneous house searches at nine locations linked to the suspect. The searches are being conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
So far, the Vigilance officers have seized cash worth over Rs 3 crore from Rout’s possession. Cash to the tune of Rs 2.25 crore approx recovered from Rout’s Bhubaneswar residence, while another Rs 77 lakh was recovered from his Nabarangpur residence. The counting of the currency notes is still in progress and counting machines have been deployed.
The places that are being searched by the Vigilance sleuths are as below:
- A double-storied residential house located at HIG-115, Kanan Vihar in Bhubaneswar.
- The residential house of Rout at Nabarangpur in Nabarangpur district.
- The office chamber of Rout at Nabarangpur in Nawarangpur district.
- The parental house of Rout at Bahudarada village under Bhadrak police limits in Bhadrak district.
Apart from the above locations, searches are being conducted at five other locations belonging to the acquaintances of Rout.
Nine teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising two Additional SPs, seven DSPs, eight Inspectors, and other staff are engaged in the searches.
The searches are underway and further reports are awaited.
