During the corresponding period last year, 5,981 persons were tested and out of them, 353 had tested positive for dengue. Despite double the number of persons tested the test positivity rate is very low,” informed Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra to reporters.
Dr Mishra said that standard operating procedure (SOP) has been issued for all districts as a precautionary measure.
“All medical colleges, Capital Hospital have been instructed to keep beds, medicine and platelets stock ready for dealing with any kind of emergency. Adequate quantity of medicines, etc have been stocked up. So there is no reason for the people to worry. The reason being death percentage in dengue is around one per cent,” he clarified.
He said the accumulation of rainwater and puddles during monsoon creates a conducive environment for mosquitos to breed.
“We need to clean all the places,” he added.
