Festival Of Colours Holi Likely To Be Sweltering Affair In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is bracing for a sweltering Holi, with temperatures expected to soar to 39°C in Jharsuguda on Wednesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Jharsuguda’s temperature rose to 38°C on Monday, a 2°C increase from Sunday’s 36.8°C. Talcher saw a jump from 35.4°C to 37°C, while Bhubaneswar’s temperature also increased by 2°C. The scorching heat and intense sun were felt across the region during the day.

As per IMD prediction, temperatures in interior and coastal Odisha will range from 35°C to 38°C on Tuesday. Jharsuguda may hit 39°C on Holi (Wednesday).

The weather department predicts temperatures will be 38°C in Jharsuguda and Sonepur, and 37°C in Sundargarh, Bhanjanagar, Balangir, Baripada, Bhubaneswar, and Sambalpur on Tuesday. On Wednesday, temperatures are expected to be 38°C in Titlagarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and Bhubaneswar.”

On Monday, temperatures were recorded as follows: Sambalpur 36.8°C, Hirakud 36.6°C, Dhenkanal 36.6°C, Talcher 37°C, Parlakhemundi 36.2°C, Rourkela 36.3°C, Titlagarh 36°C, Angul 36.1°C, and Baripada 36°C.
