Sundargarh: The woman postmaster whose body was recovered from a field near a forest under Lefripada police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district is alleged to be the result of a failed love affair. The Lefripada police said that a preliminary investigation into the crime revealed that female postmaster Snigdha Pradhan was killed by her fiancé Nayan Seth due to suspicion that she was not loyal to him.
Nayan reportedly stabbed Snigdha repeatedly leading to her death.
According to the Lefripada police, when Snigdha and Nayan engaged in an argument over their love affair when they last met on Monday evening. During the argument an infuriated Nayan stabbed Snigdha multiple times.
In his confession to the police, Nayan said that he had planned the murder and bought a new knife from the market. He also said that he felt that Snigdha’s family members were against their marriage and were always trying to separate them.
After committing the heinous crime, Nayan reportedly called Snighdha’s mother and told her about the location of the latter’s body.
Having recorded Nayan’s confession, Lefripada police will conduct further proceedings today and produce the accused in court.
