Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in 13 districts of Odisha under the influence of a low-pressure area over the northern and western Bay of Bengal. The low-pressure system formed in the area may potentially lead to the formation of a cyclonic storm.
According to the weather office, some places in Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nayagarh, Khurdha, and Jagatsinghpur are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday.
The IMD is closely monitoring the situation and has alerted residents in vulnerable areas to take necessary precautions. The state government has deployed emergency response teams to assist in case of any eventualities.
Aside from the cyclone warning, Malakangiri district has witnessed heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides prompting authorities to take measures for flood management. The water levels in rivers in several areas are rising alarmingly, and prompt action is being taken to safeguard the residents and property.
The cyclone warning has also led to the suspension of classes at primary schools in flood-prone areas as a precautionary measure. Malkangiri district administration had instructed officials to ensure the availability of essential resources and rescue equipment.
The situation is being closely monitored, and a dedicated control room has been set up to coordinate response efforts. The Disaster Relief Commission has been directed to ensure the swift availability of resources and provide assistance where needed.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.
