Man Killed By Lightning While Going To Distribute Son’s Wedding Invitations

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, an elderly person died after being struck by lightning while he was on his way to deliver wedding invitation cards for his son’s marriage at Jujumura in Sambalpur.

The deceased has been identified as Biplab Behera of Baghiapada village under Boudh district. His younger brother, Balram Behera, was also injured in the lightning strike and is currently in critical condition.

According to reports, Biplab Behera’s son Sujit was scheduled to get married on April 25 in Gahirapali village under Jujumura area. Biplab and his brother Balram were travelling on a motorcycle from Boudh towards Gahirapali to distribute the wedding invitation letters when lightning struck them. Biplab died on the spot. Balram, who sustained serious injuries, has been rushed to a hospital and admitted in critical condition.

The incident has left the family in deep shock, especially as the wedding was just weeks away.
