Mayurbhanj: Women rugby players from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district brought glory to the state and district winning the National Rugby Championship held at Basantakunj in Delhi on Sunday.
The women’s rugby team emerged as the champion displaying excellent performances throughout the tournament. Two teams comprising 24 male and women players from the Future Star Sports Academy of Mayurbhanj got the opportunity to represent Odisha.
The Future Star Sports Academy team from Mayurbhanj district reached the finals defeating Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand teams. While the final match was held against Delhi, the women’s team of Future Star Sports Academy won the championship scoring 26 goals against Delhi. Women’s team player Sandhya Rani Tudu won the best player of the tournament.
Divya Ranjan Das, the trainer of Future Star Sports Academy, and other prominent players congratulated the team on this victory.
