Bhubaneswar: The Drug Disposal Committee on Thursday destroyed over a kilogram of contraband brown sugar seized from drug traffickers.
According to an official press note, Drug Disposal Committee led by SP, Special Task Force (STF), Bhubaneswar; Deputy Collector, Bhubaneswar; Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Bhubaneswar; and DSP STF on Thursday destroyed 1.190 kg of contraband brown sugar at Sani Clean Pvt Ltd in Tangiapada, Khordha, the designated incinerator in the presence of Scientific Officers of the State Forensic Science Laboratory and Member of State Pollution Control Board after following all due procedure.
The contraband brown sugar was seized by the STF from the possession of an accused person.
The seized contraband was first authenticated by the concerned court and handed over to the Drug Disposal Committee for disposal.
As of date, STF has destroyed 63.945 kg of brown sugar in 51 cases and 136 quintals of ganja in 30 cases which includes today’s destruction.
Similarly, Odisha Police have destroyed more than 340 MTs of ganja and 77 kg of brown sugar, the press note added.
