Bhubaneswar: Poverty has declined in Odisha in the last five years as per the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) published by NITI Aayog in July 2023.
Replying to a query from Bhandaripokhari MLA Prafulla Samal in the Odisha Assembly on Thursday, Minister Of Planning & Coordination Rajendra Dholakia said that according to the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) published by NITI Aayog in July 2023 the MPI in Odisha has reduced to 15.68 per cent from 29.35 per cent in the last five years (from 2015-16 to 2019-20.
Quoting the NITI Aayog report, Dholakia said that the National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) has reduced to 14.96 per cent from 24.85 per cent during the aforementioned period.
As compared to other states, five states have recorded a sharp decline in MPI, Odisha is one of them, Dholakia added.
