Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has allocated Rs 6,538,27,64,000 for the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department for 2026-27. Of this, Rs 1,02,52,92,000 is for administrative expenditure and Rs 6,435,74,72,000 for scheme implementation.
The government has achieved success in paddy procurement, buying over 92 lakh 64 thousand metric tonnes from 19 lakh 73 thousand farmers in KMS 2024-25. Farmers have received Rs 28,719 crore, including MSP and additional input support of Rs 3,100 per quintal.
In the current KMS 2025-26, Rs 20,519 crore has been paid to 1,651,000 farmers. The government has introduced tech-driven initiatives like AI-based Smart Grain Analyzer, DBT through Aadhaar-KYC, and CCTV surveillance in mandis for transparency.
A Revolving Fund of Rs 5,000 crore ensures timely payment of MSP to farmers. The government has also set up a guarantee fund for new loans through the State Supply Corporation Limited.
For 2026-27, Rs 887,42,49,000 has been allocated for the Public Distribution System. The government aims to strengthen the agricultural produce collection, storage, and distribution system, including creating warehouses with 10 lakh metric tons storage capacity through PPP mode.
