Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today condoled the death of eminent Odia music director and lyricist Swaroop Nayak.
“I am saddened to know about the demise of noted music director and lyricist Swaroop Nayak. His unique music compositions will always occupy a special place in the hearts of music lovers. He will be remembered forever for his valuable contribution to enriching the world of Odia cinema. May his soul rest in peace and my condolences to the bereaved family members,” Patnaik posted on his ‘X’ handle.

Similarly, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed grief over the death of Nayak, terming him as a brilliant star of Odia music industry.
“I am saddened to hear the news of the death of prominent music director, lyricist and actor Swaroop Nayak. He made a mark in music direction. He has contributed a lot to the world of Odia film and music. Odisha lost a brilliant star in the Odia music industry. May his soul rest in peace. I express deep condolences to the bereaved family,” Pradhan stated on X, formerly twitter.

Nayak today breathed his last at a private hospital in Cuttack after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 76.
He had carved a niche in Odia film industry by working as a successful musician in numerous movies. He was also a lyricist, singer and actor.
Nayak had started his career as music director in ‘Hira Nila’ movie in 1962.
Several cine stars, singers and music directors expressed grief over the demise of Nayak.
