Bhubaneswar: In a disturbing incident, a 12-year-old minor girl working as a domestic help was allegedly subjected to inhuman physical and mental torture in a house at the Sailashree Vihar area under the Chandrasekharpur police station in Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, the girl sustained deep burn marks on various parts of her body after being repeatedly branded with a hot nail by the landlord for even minor mistakes in her household work. She was also allegedly tortured mentally and physically on a regular basis.
The matter came to light when workers from Ruchika Child Line (CHILDLINE) received information about the girl’s condition. They immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the minor. The girl was found in critical condition and has been admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors are providing her urgent medical treatment.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by a child protection worker, the Chandrasekharpur police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Police have begun interrogating the landlord and are gathering further evidence in the matter.
The girl is stated to be stable but under close medical observation. Investigation is underway.
