Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the death of eight passengers in a train accident between Kantakapali and Almonda railway stations.
The Chief Minister also conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured passengers.
Patnaik has directed the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and Collectors of Raygada and Koraput districts to extend immediate help in rescue and relief operations.
Meanwhile, 11 coaches from the front of 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa reached the Alamanda station. Nine rear coaches of the train 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada pulled back to the previous station, Kantakapalle.
Other than the derailed and affected coaches, all others have been cleared from the site.
