Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha continued to reel under intense heat on Saturday, with India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar reporting maximum temperatures crossing the 42°C mark at multiple locations.

According to the evening weather bulletin issued at 1900 hrs, Titlagarh recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42.7°C, closely followed by Jharsuguda at 42.6°C and Bhawanipatna at 42.0°C.

Other western Odisha towns also experienced severe heat, with Sambalpur registering 41.6°C, Hirakud 41.4°C, Talcher 41.0°C, and Bolangir 41.0°C. Angul and Sundargarh recorded 40.1°C and 40.2°C, respectively, indicating a widespread heatwave-like situation across interior districts.

In contrast, coastal areas remained relatively cooler due to maritime influence. Paradip recorded 32.3°C, Gopalpur 32.5°C, and Puri 33.6°C, while Bhubaneswar registered a maximum temperature of 36.7°C.

No rainfall was reported from any of the observation stations during the day, suggesting dry weather conditions prevailing across the state.

The bulletin also highlighted high humidity levels in coastal districts, contributing to hot and humid conditions, while interior regions experienced relatively lower humidity but higher temperatures.

The IMD indicated that maximum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged over the next five days, with a possible fall of 2–3°C thereafter.
