Bhubaneswar: In its crackdown on illegal storage and sale of firecrackers ahead of Diwali, police on Monday seized huge quantity of crackers from a residential area under Jatni police limits.
Acting on a tip-off a team of the Jatni police led by ASI Rambhabati Barua during patrolling duty on Monday raided a house at Majhi Sahi in Kusumati village and seized huge quantity of crackers from non-licence holders Chhabindra Kumar Subudhi alias Chhabi (49) and Pabitra Subudhi alias Pabi (46) who have been arrested.
Police said that Chhabi and Pabi had illegally stored the firecrackers in their house and were allegedly selling the same to the public without licence and authority.
They have been booked under sections 9(B)(1)(b) of the The Indian Explosive Act and section 5 of the Orissa Fireworks and Loud Speaker Regulation Act-1985, police said.
