Bhubaneswar: Farmers residing in remote rural areas will no more require to visit agriculture office and meet agro officials to get their farming related problems solved.
Farmers in rural areas can take the assistance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for any of their doubts and issues related to cultivations or farming.
The department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment has roped in the Artificial Intelligence to lessen the burden of farming related issues. The main objective of the initiative is to make farmers aware about the use of upgraded technology in remote rural areas, an official said.
At the ongoing International Convention on Millets (ICM) in Bhubaneswar, the officials have imparted training to many farmers who come from various parts of the State regarding the use of AI.
If a farmer has a smart phone, he/she can get his/ her issues solved within seconds. They have to obtain the QR code from the block or district agriculture office or more easily they can download the same from the Google app. After installing the application or scanning the QR code, they have to enter their registered mobile number.
Then, the AI will ask him/her for his/her problems. The farmers can enter their issues through text or voice and within seconds, it would suggest the solution in another box. If a farmer is not able to read the text, he/she can click on the speech button to get the voice message.
If the answer is not satisfactory, the farmer can dislike it and the AI would give details with more informative suggestions.
This programme is in the initial stage of development. The department is working to upgrade it. In the next phase, farmers can find the solution from AI by putting the pictures of their plant disease or pest attack, the official added.
Not only agriculture, but also the technology can be used in dairy farming, poultry, apiculture, pisciculture and many more.
Farmers also expressed happiness over the new technology which can help solve their problems.
“When I got to know about the Ama Krushi AI Chatbot, I got the training how to operate it. Through the AI, I sought to know about the eradication of gundi poka (earhead bug) on paddy plant and the AI gave me the perfect answer. I hope it would be helpful for many farmers”, said a farmer.
