Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out in a train coach at the coaching depot at Puri railway station in Odisha around Tuesday afternoon.
The fire mishap took place when the train was parked at the washing line for cleaning. The fire first sparked at the base of the coach and soon the entire area was covered with smoke. Although no casualty was reported, the fire damaged the entire coach.
Railway staff and Fire Services personnel swung into action to douse the fire and detached the other coaches of the train to prevent the fire from spreading. The exact reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
However, preliminary investigation suggests that the fire might be due to an electrical short-circuiting in the battery compartment.
