Koraput: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials from Bengaluru in Karnataka on Wednesday reportedly picked up five students from a house in the Parabeda locality of Jeypore town in Koraput district on charges of marijuana (ganja) smuggling.
According to sources, a 15-member team of the NCB, Bengaluru raided a house in the Parabeda locality of Jeypore town in the wee hours today and picked up five students on charges of ganja trafficking.
The accused have been identified as Himanshu Sekhar Nayak, Raja Mandal, Siba Dutta, K Amarnath and Soham, the sources said.
The accused youths were staying in a rented house and were reportedly pursuing their studies, the sources added.
While accused Raja Mandal is the former president of the Koraput district unit of the NSUI, the other four are students of Vikram Deb University.
Sources further said that the families of the accused youths have lodged written complaints of their wards to have gone missing.
However, IIC of Jeypore Town police station and SDPO Jeypore have preferred to remain tight lipped over the incident.
