Bhubaneswar: Euphoria prevailed in the families and villages of the Odia workers who were rescued safely from the collapsed tunnel in Uttarkashi after 17-day ordeal.
All 41 workers buried under a collapsed Himalayan road tunnel were rescued after 17 days of toil and hardship of NDRF, SDRF and Army.
The five workers from Odisha are Dhiren Nayak, Bisweswar Nayak, Raju Nayak, Bhagwan Bhatra and Tapan Mandal.
People in Basudevpur in Bhadrak district, Talbeda under Dabugaan in Nabarangpur district, Kuldiha in Balasore, Yogibandh of Bangiriposhi in Mayurbhanj and Bedhakudar village in Mayurbhaanj celebrated the safe rescue of five Odia labourers from the tunnel in Uttarkasi.
The family of Tapan Mandal of Sanakrishnapur village in Khurdha happily distributed sweets while people in Rairangpur burst fire crackers with excitement.
