Bhubaneswar: With the detection of two more active COVID cases in Odisha during the last 24 hours, the total number of active patients has gone up to five on Wednesday.
Three cases were detected earlier in December and the condition of these patients is said to be stable. Two of these patients do not have any travel history, while that of the remaining three is being investigated.
Meanwhile, the total number of active COVID patients in the country stands at 4,059 on Wednesday. So far, seven people have succumbed to the viral infection in India after the emergence of the new COVID sub-variant JN.1. While three patients died in West Bengal, two in Karnataka, one each died in Gujarat and Goa, according to data provided by the Union Health Ministry.
The Odisha Health Department has advised elderly people with comorbidities to wear and avoid visiting crowded places.
