Three More COVID Cases Detected In Odisha; 2 Infected By JN.1

Bhubaneswar: Three more active COVID cases were detected in Odisha during the last 24 hours. One of these patients is infected by the JN.1 sub-variant of COVID-19. Presently, Odisha has two JN.1 patients. However, the tally of patients dropped to 25 from 27 on Wednesday as five patients recovered during this period.

The health condition of all the patients is stable and they are undergoing treatment in home isolation.

Odisha Public Health Director Dr Bijay Mohapatra said that the first JN.1 case was detected in Odisha on Wednesday and the condition of the patient is stable. “Worldwide it has been found that the symptoms of JN.1 sub-variety of COVID are not severe and can be cured in home isolation following the COVID guidelines,” Dr Mohapatra said.

Nationwide, 775 fresh COVID cases were detected during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 4,423. At the same time, two patients succumbed to their infections during the period. One death was reported from Karnataka and Kerala each, data made available by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare revealed.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Health Department has advised people, especially the elderly and those with comorbidities, to wear masks and avoid going to crowded places. Besides, people with symptoms like fever, cold, cough, and flu have been advised to get themselves tested.
