Bhubaneswar: The mercury dropped to below 10°C at six places in Odisha for the second consecutive day on Sunday amidst dense fog occurring in several places across the state. Kirei in Sundargarh district was the coldest place in Odisha recording a minimum temperature of 7.7°C during the last 24 hours.
Other places where the nighttime temperature was below 10°C include Sundargarh (8.5), G Udayagiri (8.6°C), Rourkela (8.9°C), Koraput (9°C), and Jharsuguda (9.6°C). Meanwhile, Phulbani and Ranital recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5°C each.
The minimum temperatures in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were 17.2°C and 18.5°C, respectively, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Meanwhile, dense fog occurred in Cuttack, Gopalpur, and Bolangir, while shallow to moderate fog was observed in Chandbali, Angul, Bhawanipatna, and Baripada on Monday morning reducing visibility to 50 to 200 meters.
The IMD has forecast light rain in some places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts on Wednesday. Light showers are likely to continue in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak on Thursday too.
