Balasore Police Bust Inter-State ATM Loot Gang; 5 Arrested, Rs 6.13 Lakh Seized

Balasore: Balasore police have busted one inter-state ATM loot gang with the arrest of five persons.

Police have seized Rs 6,13,700 in cash, one car, one pistol & 4 rounds of ammunition, hotspot dongle, one wire cutter, one screwdriver, three smartphones, two backpack bags, broken cash trays of ATM, ID proofs, and chance fingerprints from the car, said an official press release.

The accused persons hail from Haryana and have confessed during interrogation to have committed multiple ATM cutting and theft, the release added.

On the intervening night of 10/11 January two ATM theft cases were reported from Khaira and Soro police stations. A total of Rs 10,71,900 was looted from the ATMs.

On getting information, on the ATM thefts, police teams chased the gang. During the chase, the culprits who were in a white colour car pointed gun at the chasing police team and managed to escape.

Next day the car was found abandoned on a wooden bridge in a village under Khunta police limits due to extensive search and blocking by the police.Later police found it to be car stolen from Delhi region.

From the belongings found in the car, use of scientific team , dog squad, Cyber cell, CCTV footage, continuous search and intelligence collection led to detection of both the ATM theft cases of the intervening nigh of 10/11 January.

The accused persons were apprehended from Bhubaneswar while they were trying to flee.

The have confessed to have committed multiple ATM breaking and theft.
