Bhubaneswar: In a major success, the Commissionerate Police have busted a gang involved in apartment robberies across the capital city and arrested two robbers.
Talking to the media, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh on Thursday said that an inter-state gang comprising members from Odisha, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and others were involved in a series of robberies in the city during the last three-four months. They randomly broke into vacant apartments and robbed valuables. They mostly targeted the apartments where the families had gone outstation.
Following a daring robbery in Nayapalli area in the city a month ago, the Commissionerate Police intensified night patrolling and searched CCTVs to trace the robbers. A special squad of the Commissionerate Police finally traced them through CCTV clue and arrested two robbers.
So far, the gang looted 12 flats in five apartments in the capital city. This gang looted in Chandka, Infocity, Bharatpur, and Mancheswar police station areas.
