Bhubaneswar: A motorcyclist was injured critically after kite string got wrapped around his neck on Kathajodi river bridge in Cuttack on Friday.
Profusely bleeding Akshya Kumar Mohapatra of Kalyan Nagar area in Cuttack was admitted to a hospital in the city. His condition is stable now.
The incident took place when Akshya was traveling to Bhubaneswar on his bike on Kathajodi bridge. The string of a kite got entangled around his neck.
It was suspected that the Akshya was injured by Chinese manja (kite string), which was banned by the district administration.
Four persons were injured in similar incidents in the last one month in the millennium city.
Earlier, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra had warned people and shopkeepers against the use and selling of Chinese manja.
