Bhubaneswar: Food safety officials destroyed around 33 kg of stale and expired food products during inspections at shops and online retail outlets in different parts of the city on Sunday, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
The inspections were carried out in Patia, Bharatpur and Ghatikia areas as part of efforts to ensure food safety and compliance with prescribed quality standards.
During the drive, officials also collected seven samples of milk products and sent them to a laboratory for quality testing, the civic body said in a post on X.
The inspections were aimed at checking the quality of food products available in retail outlets and preventing the sale of stale or expired items to consumers.
