Death Toll Reaches 4 In Jharsuguda Truck-Van Collision

Jharsuguda: The death toll climbed to four with the death of two more at the hospital in Truck-van collision that took place on NH-49 near Janiena under Lakhanpur police station in Jharsuguda district.

Nine others are undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

A coal-laden truck collided with the pick-up van in which they were travelling on NH 49 near Juniena village in Jharsuguda district on Sunday morning. As many as 13 passengers were there in the van.

The passenger-laden pickup coming from Lakhanpur side was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction on National Highway 49.

Two were killed on the pot while others were shifted to Lakhanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) where two others succumbed to injuries. Others were shifted to district headquarters hospital.

The identity of the deceased and other injured persons remains unclear.

Police launched an investigation.
