Cuttack: In a ghastly incident, some unidentified youths allegedly gang-raped a 7-year-old girl in Balisahi under Madhupatna police station limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Thursday evening.
According to reports, the victim and her friend were riding a bicycle in the Balisahi area yesterday when she lost balance and fell. While her friend, who was riding on the pillion, left the spot after the fall, the victim sustained minor injuries.
Seeing the victim alone and injured, some local youths offered the girl help and suggested that they would take her to a nearby healthcare facility. When the girl agreed, the youths took her to an isolated place instead and assaulted her sexually.
After the girl reached home, she narrated the horrifying incident to her family members and they lodged an FIR at the Madhupatna police station in connection with the crime.
The victim has been admitted to a hospital in Cuttack and her condition was stated to be stable.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the matter. However, no one has been arrested in this connection so far.
