Bhubaneswar: Dense fog engulfed several places in Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, on Friday morning reducing visibility to a mere 50 meters. The fog disrupted vehicular in most places of the state.
In the early hours, the coastal and some interior districts of Odisha were engulfed in a dense fog, significantly impacting the pace of life in the region, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Puri.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for dense fog in several Odisha districts during the next few days. The IMD highlighted the potential risks to commuters as visibility dropped alarmingly. The affected areas include both coastal belts and interior districts, including upon Khurda, Nayagarh, and Ganjam, and extending to the southern districts of Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
Alongside the fog, a chill has begun to settle over the region. The IMD forecasted a gradual decline in the minimum temperature by 3°C to 4°C over the next three days. This dip in temperature poses additional hardships for those caught unprepared by the sudden weather change.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower activities are also forecasted. The amalgamation of cold, rain, and fog could spell a series of disruptions, from delayed transport services to the slowed pace of daily activities, affecting the lives of millions in the region.
