Elections 2024: Odisha Congress To Release First List Of 70 Candidates On March 1

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress will release its first list of 70 candidates for ensuing General elections and Assembly elections in the state on March 1.

The party will release a list of 70 candidates for many assembly constituencies in the first phase, said Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Sarat Pattanayak at a presser following the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) meeting here today.

The PEC meeting was held to discuss the distribution of tickets among the aspirants for the both General elections and Assembly elections, 2024. All 23 members of the PEC attended the meeting.

“An elaborate discussion will be held on the distribution of tickets for both Lok Sabha and Assembly seats. The list prepared will then be presented before the Screening Committee in Delhi. All India Congress Committee will take the final decision in this regard,” Pattanayak told mediapersons.

It is learnt that a total of 3,000 aspirants have applied online for the assembly tickets from Congress while 700 have applied for Lok Sabha tickets on the ‘Project Pragaman’ portal.

It may be mentioned that All India Congress Committee Odisha in-charge Ajoy Kumar had launched a new initiative, ‘Project Pragaman’ for transparent ticket distribution to candidates.
