Hot Condition Continues For 2nd Straight Day As Mercury Crosses 35°C In 15 Places In Odisha

Bhubaneswar:  The summer-like condition continues to prevail for the second consecutive day on Wednesday with State Capital Bhubaneswar emerging hottest in the State for the second straight day.

The Met Department said that 15 places across the State including the Capital city touched 35 degrees C and above.

Bhubaneswar recorded 36.4 degrees C while Titilagarh remained in the second spot with 36 degrees and Bhawanipatna also saw 36 degrees.

Chandbali and Bhadrak witnessed 35.8 degrees C each while Jharsuguda came next with 35.6 degrees.

Places recorded 35 degrees C and above temperature are Sonepur (35.5), Boudh (35.5), Nayagarh (35.4), Bolangir (35.4) Dhenkanal (35.2), Cuttack (35), Angul (35), Malkangiri (35) and Talcher (35).

The weather agency attributed the hot condition to hot humid air entering the State under the influence of high pressure.

The night temperature was hovering around 25 degrees C on Tuesday night. Places recorded below 25 degrees C night temperature are Paradip: 24°C, Chandbali: 22.2 °C, Gopalpur: 22.2 °C, Jajpur: 22 °C, Bhubaneswar: 21.5°C, Balasore 21.4°C and Cuttack: 21°C.

The IMD predicted no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) over the districts of Odisha during the next 04-05 days. Hot weather condition is likely to prevail over some parts of coastal Odisha till tomorrow.

Light to moderate rain is also expected in some places in the State from Thursday, the IMD said through a bulletin.
