Nayagarh: An Anganwadi worker and her family have been running from pillar to post to get justice after being ostracized by a Kangaroo court at Badabarana village under Nuagaon police limits in Nayagarh district.
According to sources, life has become absolute hell for Anganwadi worker Rojalin Mohanty and her husband Pitabas after the Kangaroo Court ostracized them in December while ruling a family dispute.
Apart from ostracizing the couple, the court announced a fine of Rs 50,000 on villagers who would talk to them.
Thanks to the Kangaroo Court’s judgment, villagers forced Rojalin to leave her job at Anganwadi Centre. They also barred their children from attending classes at the village Anganwadi centre as Rojalin was teaching there.
According to Rojalin, she had a dispute with her in-laws in December 2023. The dispute was dragged to Kangaroo Court which pronounced the judgement against them. Despite filing complaints with Nuagaon police station, police are yet to take any action in this regard.
As per Rojalin’s allegations, nine villagers tried to kill Rojalin when she was busy working at the Anganwadi Centre. They also threatened to kill their children. Rojalin managed to flee the spot and reach the police station. She filed a complaint with the police in this regard. Her repeated complaints to the District Collector and Sub-Collector to resolve the case yielded no results.
