Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a hike in the remuneration of all Village Resource Persons in the State.

Accordingly, the remuneration of their daily working days has been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 400. Along with this, they will also get an additional Rs. 100 towards travel expenses. They will get a total of Rs 500.

This will benefit 10,000 village resources persons in the state. For this, the state government will bear an additional cost of Rs 2.88 crore.

During the visit of 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian to various districts, the workers had given a proposal in this regard. Considering their problems, the Chief Minister has taken a decision to increase their remuneration.

It is worth noting that the Village resources persons working in the Odisha Society for Social Audit Accountability and Transparency (OSSAAT) under PR & WD department play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness by conducting social audit of various important government programmes including such as MGREGA, Pucca House, Food Security, Mid-Day Meals. A large number of Mission Shakti members are engaged in this.
