Bhubaneswar: Moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain are likely in several Odisha districts from Tuesday to Thursday, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted in its mid-day bulletin on Monday.
The weather office has advised people to keep a watch on the weather and take safe shelter during thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 19.03.2024)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely to occur at many places in north interior Odisha, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, and a few places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal. Also, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely at one or two places in Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurdha, Puri, Nayagarh, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Boudh.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely in most places in several Odisha districts.

Also, thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm) at one or two places are likely in Cuttack, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Khurda, and Dhenkanal.
