Malkangiri: He was raised in a modest family without access to basic utilities. However, he was adamant that education was the key to overcoming his situation and securing a better future. His humble background did not deter him from dreaming big. Without exaggeration, it can be said that this village lad defied all odds to achieve his dream and make his father proud.
Today, let’s meet this Malkangiri-based farmer’s son who cracked the IIT entrance exam with flying colours.
Son of Karna Bisoi and Manirani Bisoi, Prakash is an example for many such students who even cannot think of dreaming big because of their poor financial condition. His educational journey commenced from a government school in his village.
Hailing from Daruguda village under Mathili block of Malkangiri district, Prakash had secured 70 per cent in the HSC examination in 2016 while he had secured 65 per cent in the Plus II examination. He pursued his graduation from Koraput College and secured 95 per cent.
Due to abject poverty, he started providing tuition to students at Matheli. It was then his Mathematics teacher Kalyani Prusty advised him to prepare IIT. Following his teachers’ advice, he started preparing for IIT.
Most importantly he cracked the IIT exam without the support of any coaching classes. He took the help of YouTube to crack IIT. Prakash has secured 3,000 ranks at the all-India level.
The financial crunch has still become a constraint in his education. He has sought the help from Odisha government so that he could go for IIT and make his dream come true.
Talking to Ommcom News, Prakash said, “My father is a small farmer. Besides, both of my parents are ailing. My father finds it hard to run our six-member family. My teacher Kalyani Ma’am encouraged me to pursue B.Sc with mathematics honours. It was she who advised me to go for IIT. Due to the financial crunch, I started providing tuition classes so that I could bear my study expenses and prepare myself for IIT by attending classes on YouTube. Financial constraint cannot be a problem for poor students who have strong willpower to do something in life.”
