Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested a teacher of a Primary School in Katringia Panchayat in Gochhapada police station in Kandhamal district for allegedly raping a minor girl of the school.
Kunu Bhoi, was produced in court following his arrest. The crime began on November 21 last year when he took the Class VIII girl student to a science fair in Phulbani where she had displayed her project. On the way back along the Phulbani-Gochhapada road in the evening, he took her into a secluded forest area and raped her.
After the initial assault he continued to threaten the minor girl and forced her into repeated sexual relations, including inside the school premises when no one else was around. This continued regularly from November 21 until around February this year.
The matter came to light when the student fell seriously ill. Her mother noticed something was wrong and, after consoling her and gaining her trust, the girl revealed what had happened. Initially she was too afraid to name the teacher.
Once the family learned the full details they filed a written complaint at Gochhapada police station. The police registered the case, investigated, and arrested Kunu Bhoi. The investigation remains ongoing
